Ordering & Receiving
It is the responsibility of the organisation to order medication from the pharmacy on a regular basis so that individuals always have enough supplies.u00a0
Refills should preferably be done a week before running out.u00a0New medication should be ordered immediately after being prescribed by the doctor.
Check that medication that should be in administration aids come in administration aids.
Nice Guidelines state that medication prescribed for a resident is not used by other residents. Staff should have protected time to order and check medicines delivered to the home. 2 staff should have the training and skills to order medicines although ordering can be done by one member of staff.
u00a0All medication ordered should be recorded and receiving is checked against orders to make sure that all medicines ordered have been prescribed and supplied correctly.
